SAMANTHA MARTINEZ 1). What motivated you to run for Hutto School Board?
I learned of the openings on the board during a Hutto Power Breakfast. I’ve been eager to be more involved with the community and have always
been passionate about school systems.
2). What is your campaign strategy?
While I’m not in a position to run an active campaign, my ultimate strategy is to be present, continue attending city events to remain informed, and to familiarize myself with the current school structure.
3). If elected, what changes will you bring to the table?
While I expect many will doubt the feasibility of taking standardized testing head on, all movements have to start somewhere. As long as schools are more focused on passing an (arguably) arbitrary test, students will be denied the true education they deserve. Life isn’t presented in a standardized, easy-to-consume format and children should be provided the appropriate tools in education to help them thrive as people not as programmable robots.
4). What can voters expect from you?
Voters can expect honesty and candor from me. I’ve spent years learning and understanding the why of behaviors and psychology. It would be my great privilege to share that experience with the Hutto School Board and the schools it represents.
