The Thrall Tigers varsity football team opened the season with a 27-0 shutout victory over the Hearne Eagles on Friday, Aug. 28, at Hearne High School.
Thrall running back Ty Matthews opened the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Weston Smiley then found Kallen Bow for a touchdown pass, while Leyton West closed out the scoring with a rushing touchdown.
With the win, Thrall moves to 1-0 on the season and will host Luling at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, in its home opener.
