Taylor will participate in the annual National Night Out event Oct. 6.
The nationwide program promotes crime-prevention efforts by fostering stronger relationships between communities and first responders, organizers said.
Several neighborhoods across the city will have evening block parties to show support for curtailing illicit narcotics, violence and other crimes.
Councilwoman Heather Long hosts an annual NNO party at her home in Hunter’s Run.
“I encourage all citizens to get involved and have their own little block parties or their house parties. Get to know our law enforcement and first responders better,” Long said.
Police Chief Joseph Chacon said NNO helps build relationships and trust within the community and with law enforcement.
Police will visit registered NNO parties to give out swag bags and meet the neighbors.
