The Granger Lady Lion varsity volleyball have wrapped up their 2026 regular season, concluding the season with 44 total sets won and 41 sets allowed.
Granger finished 13-12 overall and 5-3 for district, tying for second place on district rankings with Holland. This is a stark contrast to the 2025 season record of 19-9 overall and 9-1 in district, finishing at first on the district rankings.
The Lady Lions began the season on a sour note, losing their first five pre-district matches. Granger was able to turn their luck around two games into the regular season, maintaining a seven-game win streak that spanned into district play before falling on the road 3-0 to the first ranked Thorndale Lady Bulldogs.
Granger volleyball ended district play with a separate 3-0 defeat by Thorndale, now turning their attention to preparation for the bi-district playoffs beginning on Oct. 29. The opponent is to be determined between Somerville, Snook or Burton.
“Our goals are always to get to that postseason and continue to play in November,” said Granger varsity volleyball head coach Stacy Andel. “That’s always our goal and I talk about it on the very 1st day of practice.”
According to Andel, six current players will be returning to the squad next season, with six seniors set to graduate in May.
“In the off season, they won’t touch a volleyball again until August,” said Andel “We are lifting and running and working on quickness because it’s what we need to get better.”
