HUTTO — The Hutto High School girls varsity basketball team came up short Tuesday, Jan. 23 in a hard-fought 48-44 home loss to 6A-District 12 foe Harker Heights High School.
Despite a close defeat to the Lady Knights, the Lady Hippos were led on the night by sophomore Taylor Hicks as she had a team-high 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Hutto senior Alyssa Batton also scored in double figures with 12 points and three assists.
Lady Hippos senior Charlize Williams had a solid all-around game with eight points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots while sophomore Victoria Escobedo had seven points, nine rebounds and one steal.
The Lady Hippos and Lady Knights split the season series between the two teams as Hutto went on the road Dec.
15 and pulled off a thrilling 39-38 victory over Harker Heights.
Hutto (12-18 overall, 4-4 district record) under Head Coach Samantha Guerrero is scheduled Jan. 26 to travel to take on Temple High School and will return home Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. to host Copperas Cove High School.
