The Taylor High School girls varsity softball team has a golden opportunity to get back in the win column this weekend as 4A-District 22 continues.

The Lady Ducks, under first-year Head Coach McKensey Brentham, will return home Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m. to host the Lady Titans of Manor New Tech High School. In the previous meeting between the two squads, Taylor went on the road March 19 and picked up a dominant 11-0 victory in shoutout fashion against New Tech. Lady Ducks senior Camryn Nunamaker led the way in that game with a three-run home run, while freshman pitcher Anaih Arroyo struck out nine batters nine five innings in the circle.

However, the Lady Ducks (10-16 overall record) have struggled in district play with a 1-5 mark and three of those losses were via run rule. The Lady Ducks opened district March 15 with a competitive 4-0 loss at home to Caldwell High School and March 28 had a heartbreaking 4-3 walk-off defeat at Smithville High School.

After Saturday’s game hosting New Tech, the Lady Ducks will play April 9 at La Grange High School, April 12 at Giddings High School and will play their final regular-season home game April 16 versus Smithville High School.
