Season update: Taylor Ducks volleyball

Season update: Taylor Ducks volleyball

The Taylor Ducks varsity volleyball team is halfway through its season and in the middle of district play.

So far, the season has been different from what many hoped as the Ducks are 5-21 overall.

Taylor started on a good note defeating Rockdale in four sets 3-1, but after that, they would go on a seven-game losing streak putting them in a big hole early.

The Ducks would bounce back in a big win over Manor before losing to Thrall and Lago Vista. Taylor would go on another big losing streak of eight games ending after a 3-0 victory over its first district opponent Lampasas.

The Ducks have now lost its last two district matchups to Jarrell and Burnet making its record 1-2 in district play. Some top performers for Taylor have been senior middle hitter Haley Harms, junior libero Makenna Watson and junior setter Peyton Wamble.

These three players will continue to lead the team as the Ducks look to turn around its season.

Taylor’s next couple of matchups will be at home versus Gateway College Preparatory on Friday, Sept. 27 and on the road versus Marble Falls on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Both games will start at 6 p.m.
