Brush fires spark
Fires burned a total of 25 acres in south Taylor last Friday amid ongoing dry weather and included two heat-related injuries. On June 24, the Taylor Fire Department and other agencies responded to two separate grass fires near the 200 block of Carlos G.

Tax office closed through July 4
Residents in need of a tax office will need to drive a littler further or go online this week. The Williamson County Tax Assessor/ Collector will close the Taylor Tax Office location, 512 Vance Street, starting Friday, June 24, through Monday, July 4.

Coupland adds city Facebook page
The City of Coupland now has a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/cityofcoupland/. The page has photos of Coupland and announcements of Council and committee meetings. Mayor Jack Piper says, “Please like it and follow along to see what’s happening in our little town of Coupland.” Caitlyn Voelker is the admin.

Dickey Footbridge to be restored
A historical Taylor bridge is being renovated, but you can’t drive your vehicle through the structure. The Taylor Conservation and Heritage Society (TCHS) and the Taylor Garden Club recently announced that with oversight by the Taylor Parks and Recreation Department, contract work has been established to restore the Dickey Footbridge.

Hutto Board approves 10-cent meal increase
Last Thursday, June 23, Hutto ISD held a special called meeting prior to their regularly scheduled meeting. Following the closed session of the regular meeting, Kayla Gossett was announced as the new principal at Benjamin “Doc” Kerley Elementary School.

School town halls start Tuesday
Residents can let Taylor Independent School District’s superintendent know in person about any thoughts or concerns on several topics starting this week. On Tuesday, June 28, the Taylor ISD will host a town hall with Superintendent Devin Padavil on school safety, budgets, tax rates and finances at 6 p.m.

Williamson County reaffirms AAA bond rating
Williamson County has affirmed its AAA bond rating, the highest rating possible, with both rating agencies Fitch Ratings and S&P Global Ratings. Securing a bond rating is the first step prior to issuing debt.
