Mamma Jamma Ride in Taylor Sept. 17
The 2022 Texas Mamma Jamma Ride will begin at 8 a.m. at Heritage Square on Saturday, Sept. 17 to raise funds in support of Lone Star Circle of Care’s Big Pink Bus, which brings affordable mobile mammogram services to low-income and underserved women in the region. Since the ride was launched in 2009, more than $2 million has been raised to combat breast cancer. Registration for the all-skills-level event is $35 for each adult rider, who is required to raise at least $300 to ride on event day and will receive the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride t-shirt, $50 for under-18 riders, for whom fundraising is not required, and $35 for virtual riders, with no fundraising minimum either.

The Taylor Fire Department will sponsor the 9/11 Memorial March and Patriot Day Program in the evening. A parade will march down Main Street in Taylor, followed by a program at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St.

Marvin Lawrence “Dusty” Rodenbeck
Marvin Lawrence “Dusty” Rodenbeck was born July 3, 1933, in Detmold. He was the seventh child, and second son, of W.C. and Margaret Unnasch Rodenbeck. Marvin passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, at his home in Thorndale. Known as “Dusty” throughout his life, he served in the United States Army from July 1953 until June 1955.

TSTC and Temple adapting to fill the skills gap

This was the focus of several presentations made at the Taylor Texas Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center’s luncheon Aug. 22 at Taylor Independent School Events Center.
