The City of Hutto Parks and Recreation Department is offering a special Olympics program for people 18 years and older who have been identified as having an intellectual disability. Area school districts contrast in TEA accountability
After a two-year pause due to COVID, the Texas Education Agency released its accountability ratings for Texas school districts for the 2021-22 school year Aug. 15, and the results couldn’t be more different for our local area. Thrall Independent School District has earned an A, while Taylor Independent School District received a C, the lowest grade possible to still receive a rating. 08/17/2022 10:34 AM

MCT sets call for ‘whodunit’ masterpiece
Milam Community Theater will hold auditions Aug. 21-22 for Ken Ludwig’s new adaptation of the Agatha Christie masterpiece, “Murder on the Orient Express,” the final show of the 2022 season. Auditions will be at the Williams Event Center in Cameron at 7 p.m. both days. For audition forms, visit http://www.milamcommunitytheater. com. The story involves 10 passengers who board the famed Orient Express traveling from exotic Istanbul to the lights of Paris. When the train is unexpectedly stranded in mountain snowdrifts, only nine passengers are still alive. An American tycoon has been stabbed to death in his private compartment, and suddenly, every passenger is a suspect.
