She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her two children, Carol Lea and Paul Werchan (Terry); 11 grandchildren: Justin, Braxton, Shannon, Lindsey, Ashton, Alexis, Walter, Hannah, Emma, Arthur and Lydia; and 16 great-grandchildren who brought her much joy. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Leroy E.
Werchan, and many dear friends.
Mary Ann found joy in caring for her family, friends and pets. She especially adored her birds and dogs.
Mary Ann grew up on a farm near Taylor, Texas, where she learned the value of working hard in her life. She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Taylor and then attended Durham Business College in Austin. After returning to Taylor, she met and married Leroy Feb.
7, 1949. Following the birth of their two children, the couple permanently moved to Austin to raise their families and pursue their careers.
Mary Ann started at American Bank as a secretary but over the years transitioned to become the manager of the Bank’s Trust Department and retired as a Vice President. She then went on to work for LCRA in the finance department for many years.
Her dedication and leadership left a lasting impact.
Mary Ann will be remembered for her strength, hard work and unwavering love.
Her legacy lives on in every life she touched. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
