Shirley Kruger

Born on Aug. 18, 1945, in Elgin, Texas, to Grover Cleveland Scott and Ina Fay (Allen) Scott, she proudly graduated from Elgin High School in 1965.
Shirley married Lonnie Kruger on July 2, 1965. They established their home in Taylor, where they successfully ran Kruger’s Quick Shade business while raising two children.
A vibrant community leader, she made her mark as a substitute teacher and was heavily involved in sports and scouting. Shirley excelled in softball and bowling, showcasing her competitive spirit on and off the field, even participating in a donkey basketball event.
Throughout her career, she embraced diverse roles-working in real estate, retail, and even appearing in the film “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” For her 50th birthday, Shirley enjoyed a thrilling trip to Six Flags, embodying the zest for life she was known for.
As a proud ‘Red Hat Lady,’ she relished gatherings and supported her grandson at all his football games, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Kruger, her parents, and her three brothers. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and determination.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Kristi Schulz (Russell), son Klifton Kruger (Alexandra), sister Jessie Lee Edwards, brothers Allen, Donald, and Joe Scott, grandchildren Kyra Kruger, Konstance Kruger, Conrad Schulz and Alyssa Schulz along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and dedicated friends who admired her spirit.
