W. Kay Menegay

Kay was born on March 4, 1939, in Tennessee. In the 1950s, she moved with her family to Flint, Michigan, where she grew up and later married Richard Moore.
Together, they raised a family and, in 1965, relocated to Chesaning. There, Kay opened and operated Kay’s Shoe Mart from 1968 to 1972, a well-loved local business remembered for her friendly service and dedication to the community.
After leaving Michigan, Kay moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she became an administrator at a school for the deaf and blind. Her passion for communication and education led to a distinguished career, including being hired by the White House to provide American Sign Language interpretation for Vice President Nelson Rockefeller.
Kay later moved to Edinburg, where she met the love of her life, Ken Menegay. The two were married for more than 45 years and shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
Together, they ran a successful antique business in Jarrell; moving later to Taylor, where they built and operated a beautiful RV park.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ken and children: Kathy (Joe) Wasmiller, Pam (Ernie) Artunduaga, Rick (Jackie) Moore, Melissa (Dan) Oberwegner, and Kathryn Kilpatrick.
