George P. Ruzicka

George P. Ruzicka, age 92, of Taylor died on Feb. 2, 2026. He was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Taylor, Texas, a son of the late Marshall and Bessie Dubil Ruzicka.

George was a lifetime resident of Taylor, graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School. He was the owner of Marshall’s Grocery for more than 50 years and unselfishly served the City of Taylor as Commissioner 1973-86 and Mayor 1981-86.

George was a member and past president of the Taylor Optimist Club. As a faithful lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, George was involved with the Knights of Columbus and the KJT.

He also cherished the fellowship at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

George’s outgoing personality and warm heart endeared him to many people in the community. He was an avid traveler who loved to visit new destinations with his travel buddies.

Whether it was a car ride to visit his favorite places or a friend stopping by his house to reminisce, George valued a trip down memory lane.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel Marshall, Dan, and Bill, his sister-in-law Joyce, and nephew Marshall.

George is survived by his sister-in-law Betty Ruzicka, nephew Bill Ruzicka, and nieces Juanita Ruzicka, Sue Arensman, Patti and husband Eddie Gerren, great and great-grand nephews and nieces, and longtime friend Carol Davis.

A visitation and Rosary will be held at Providence in Taylor on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 6–8 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. His funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m.

We invite all who knew and loved George to join us in honoring his memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School at 520 Washburn Street, Taylor, Texas 76574.
