Mary Ann Stauffer passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the age of 93 at the SPJST Rest Home in Taylor.

She was born on Nov. 4, 1932, in Granger to Adolph and Anna (Knapek) Matula. She is a graduate of Granger High School. On April 22, 1954, she married Raymond Stauffer, and they lived in Taylor for the rest of their lives.

Mary Ann loved to bake and cook. She learned the art of making kolaches from her mother, Anna, and made many batches of kolaches during her lifetime.

After high school, she started working as an operator at the local Southwestern Bell office in Taylor. When AT&T bought out Southwestern Bell, she was transferred to Austin to continue working as an operator until she retired at the age of 55. She worked a total of 36 years for AT&T and was extremely proud of this major accomplishment in her life.

Her Czech heritage led her to join the local Czech Chorus. She traveled with the members of the Chorus to sing at many reunions, events, and wherever they were asked to perform. The highlight of her time with the group was traveling to Czechoslovakia and performing there at a special event.

Mary Ann was a devoted member of the Catholic Church her entire life and helped out in the church where she could.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and their son, Michael Stauffer.
