Franklin Blomquist

Born Oct. 22, 1933, in Taylor, he was the 11th child of Robert Martin and Lydia Hart Blomquist. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Vammen (DE644) from 1955-57.
On Nov. 30, 1963, he married Bonnie Jean Daniel at Tenth Street United Methodist Church. Franklin was a lifelong member of the church, serving in numerous leadership roles. He sang in the choir for 59 years and served as choir director for 30 years.
Franklin enjoyed gardening, baking bread, crossword puzzles, traveling, and following Taylor Ducks and SMU Mustangs athletics. He especially loved spending time with family, celebrating the Fourth of July, and sharing fireworks with his nieces and nephews. He was also devoted to his beloved Border Collies, Spookie I and Spookie II, and his cat, Tiger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; his parents; his siblings; nieces Patsy Berry, Ruth Blackwell, and Delinda Sterling; and greatnephews Brian Marak and Nathan Rowland. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, greatnieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of SPJST Senior Living, especially nurse Regina Lishey, for the special care and kindness she provided to him.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Tenth Street United Methodist Church. Graveside services will immediately follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Tenth Street United Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
