Born Sept 21, 1937, son of L.M. (Happy) Walker and Mary Ellen Olive, in Taylor, Tx. He was a 7th-generation member of the Church of Christ through his 5th great uncle, Abel Olive, who established congregations in 1802 and 1807 in Tennessee and Kentucky. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1956 and attended Abilene Christian College. He completed college in only 3 years while working 42 hours per week in men’s wear at Popular Dept Store in Abilene, and preaching on demand for 16 West Texas congregations.

He married Stella Madene Valentine in 1958, raised a family, and then, after her passing, married Ruth Warrick Bogart in 2009.

His career included thirty years of ministry at Lake Victor, Crystal City, 9th & Main in San Angelo, Central in Victoria, Twin City in Port Arthur, Southwest in Ada (Okla), Cavitt St in Bryan, and Somerville. He is very grateful and honored to have shared the lives, marriages, and funerals for hundreds of God’s servants. He then worked at Wards in Bryan and Abilene, Medical Supplement Insurance in 7 counties for Humana, and as a licensed agent for Sitel.

In 2002 he retired so that he could be the primary caregiver for his wife and mother who were in poor health.

He was preceded by his parents, Stella Madene Walker, and brother Larry Walker.

He is survived by wife Ruth Walker, son Mark Walker, son Donald and wife Sally, and daughter Maellen Walker Isenberg and husband Marcus, stepdaughter Donna Deming and husband Don, stepson Doug Warrick and wife Sandy, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
