Taylor has new library director
Amy Keyes is the new library director for the Taylor Public Library.

The Taylor Public Library has a new director.

Amy Keyes was recently named the library director. She is taking over the role following the retirement of former Library Director Karen Ellis in May.

Most recently, Keyes served as Assistant Library Administrator for the Beaumont Public Library System in Beaumont. Previously, she worked in libraries across Texas, including those in Fort Worth, McKinney and Lewisville.

"We couldn't be happier to have Amy on board at the Taylor Public Library," Taylor City Manager Brian LaBorde said. "She brings a wealth of experience and a lifelong love of reading to Taylor and is passionate about the vital role the library and its programming play in our community."

Keyes holds a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman's University in Denton and has trained with the Texas State Library, the Texas Library Association, and the Public Library Association.

“I am thrilled to join the Taylor Public Library,” Keyes said. “It’s an honor to be part of a place where I can serve my community through the work I love — providing innovative programming and building a great, practical collection of materials and resources for my new hometown.”

A complete story can be seen in this weekend's edition of the Taylor Press.
