A neighbor may have thwarted an attempt to abduct a child Monday afternoon, according to a statement released by the city.
The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. Oct. 27 when two men followed a 10-year-old child home from a school bus stop near Tribute Boulevard and Greinert Drive, the statement said.
The men, who were wearing all-black clothing, got out of a black Jeep-style vehicle and began walking toward the youngster, police said the child told them.
When the child started running, the two men ran in the youth’s direction, according to police.
An unidentified man in a nearby yard yelled at the men to stop, prompting them to run back to the vehicle and drive away, headed east on Tribute toward North Drive.
Police are asking neighbors to review surveillance footage that may have captured the vehicle or the men.
Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact the Taylor Police Department at 512-352-5551.
