Thrall, Granger volleyball teams open playoffs Thursday

The Thrall Tigerettes and Granger Lady Lions varsity volleyball teams will both open postseason play on Thursday, Oct. 30, as they look to advance past the bi-district round.

The Tigerettes will face Teague at 6 p.m. at the Mumford High School gym. Thrall has been led this season by senior Brynn Leschber, who leads the team in both kills and digs.

Junior outside hitter Ellie Schmidt and seniors Nevaeh Irvin and Kinley Hoffman have also played key roles throughout district play. Thrall finished the regular season with a 19-19 overall record and a 5-7 mark in district competition, while Teague enters with a 21-8 overall record and a 9-3 district record.

The Granger Lady Lions will also be in action Thursday as they take on Mumford after finishing the regular season 18-8 overall and capturing the District 26-2A championship. The Mustangs finished 25-16 overall and 6-2 in district play. Both teams are looking to extend their seasons and advance to the regional round of the playoffs, with opponents to be determined.
