No foul play is suspected in the death of Taylor High School student found in a vehicle on campus, nor is there a danger to the public, police said Wednesday, Sept. 30.
The student’s identity has not been released and details remain few.
According to a statement from Principal Matthew Wamble to families, the Taylor Police Department was notified Tuesday night, Sept. 29, after the student was discovered in the vehicle.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the student’s family, friends, classmates, teachers and all those impacted by this loss,” Wamble said in the statement. “We are respecting the family’s privacy during this incredibly difficult time and ask our school community to do the same.”
The principal said the school’s crisis response counseling teams have been notified and are available to support students.
“We recognize that grief can affect each student differently, and we are here to support them now and in the days ahead,” Wamble said.
Wamble said the school is working with police as an investigation continues, but asked the community “to avoid speculation or sharing information about the circumstances surrounding the student’s death that has not been officially communicated.”
According to the administrator, “We will continue to provide support and will share additional information or resources with our school community as appropriate.”
