The debut of an AirLife Texas medical helicopter base in Taylor will improve response times and help save more lives across Williamson County, company officials said.
AirLife Texas, a division of Air Methods helicopter transport, is the nation’s leading emergency air medical service provider, officials said.
Known as AirLife Texas 2, the heliport is at 190 N.W. Carlos G. Parker Blvd.
“The decision to open a base in Taylor was driven by the need for expanded air medical access within Williamson County,” said Ann Rolfe, area manager with Air Methods.
AirLife Texas 2 is the only air medical base in Williamson County, officials said.
“The Taylor location allows us to better serve patients by improving response times and coverage for the surrounding communities,” Rolfe said.
AirLife Texas conducts more than 100,000 transports a year providing rapid transport and medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the agency.
The helicopters are staffed with trained medical personnel and advanced equipment, including assistance for cases requiring specialized care such as high-risk obstetric or pediatric patients, officials said.
The emergency transport system is in-network with most healthinsurance providers and also offers a patient advocacy program to help with financial obligations, officials said.
A ribbon cutting for the new base is 11 a.m. Jan. 14.
