TEMPLE — A man charged in felony warrants with injuring his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son has ties to Granger, investigators said.
Thomas Anthony Jonse, 30, was arrested Tuesday by Bell County sheriff’s deputies outside of Temple and is charged with injury to a child, a first-degree felony, and aggravated assault causing bodily injury, a second-degree felony, according to court records.

At press time, Jonse remained in the Bell County Jail in lieu of posting bonds totaling $500,000.
Jail records indicate Jonse has a Granger address.
According to a Bell County arrest affidavit, Temple Police Department officers were dispatched to McLane’s Children’s Hospital to investigate reports of an injured child.
A man interviewed by officers, identified in court records as the boyfriend of the child’s mother, told authorities the tot fell off the bed while they were playfighting.
The man, however, told a nurse the toddler was running on the bed when he fell off and hit the tile floor, according to records.
The child’s mother informed investigators she was at work when the incident happened, according to the affidavit.
She left her child in the care of the man and said when she returned home, her son was unresponsive until she picked him up and he vomited on her.
Police said an investigation also showed the floor struck by the child’s head was not tile. The boy’s injuries also were not consistent with a fall off a bed, but with abusive head trauma, according to medical personnel cited by police.
