The Taylor Ducks girls and boys soccer teams faced Rockdale on Friday, Jan. 23, with the Lady Ducks earning a dominant 5-1 victory while the boys dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision in a defensive battle.
Sophomore Kinzie Johnson led Taylor in the win, finishing with two goals and three assists. The Lady Ducks built a three-goal lead in the first half and put the match away with two additional goals after the break.
Junior Analisa Arredondo, junior Kaylie Chavez and freshman
Araceli Mena also found the back of the net. Sophomore Peyton Wamble and junior Kaitlin Crane recorded assists.
With the win, the Lady Ducks improved to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in district play. The boys fell to 6-4-1 overall and 2-2 in district.
Both teams took on Caldwell on Friday. The girls will host Cameron on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7:15 p.m., while the boys will travel to Cameron for a 7 p.m. match.
