Ducks soccer blanks Hornets

Boys The Taylor Ducks varsity boys and girls soccer teams swept the Caldwell Hornets on Friday, Jan. 30. The girls won 6-0, while the boys secured an 8-0 victory.

Girls

The Lady Ducks scored two goals in the first half and added four more in the second half. Six players found the back of the net: senior Avery Paulson, senior Marisol Chicas, junior Kaitlyn Crane, junior Ivonne Hernandez, junior Analisa Arredondo and freshman Araceli Mena.

Crane contributed three assists, while sophomores Evelin Avila and Peyton Wamble each added one.

Taylor improved to 5-5 overall and 4-1 in district.

The Lady Ducks faced Cameron on Tuesday and will return to action on the road against Salado on Friday, Feb. 6, at 7:15 p.m.

The Ducks also delivered a dominant shutout, with Aaron Grimaldo and Adan Torres Martinez each scoring three goals.

Mateo Lopez Rivera and Jonathan Sanchez added one goal each. Lopez Rivera and Martinez combined for three assists, while Jose Lopez and Javier Trejo each earned one.

The Ducks improved to 7-4-1 overall and 3-2 in district.

Taylor faced Cameron on Tuesday and will host Salado on Friday at 7 p.m.
