Daniel Antsee is willing to go the distance for the children of East Williamson County — 100 miles, to be exact.

Antsee, area director of the Boys & Girls Club of Georgetown and East Williamson County, which supports the Taylor area, will race in the Rocky Raccoon 100 Mile Trail Run Feb. 7 to raise money for the club and create awareness about its programs.

Antsee’s goal is to raise $3,500; he already has more than $2,700 in pledges.

The run set for Huntsville is presented by the Swedish outdoor company USWE, a maker of backpacks and hydration packs.

Antsee ran two years ago and made it 80 miles before stopping.

“I decided to try again, but this time make it a fundraiser for the people who may not know the important services the Boys & Girls Clubs provide for Williamson County,” Antsee said.

The organization offers safe after-school and summer programs for school-age children, focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyle choices and character development, officials said.

Services include healthy meals and snacks, tutoring, science-technology- engineering- math activities and more. While the Boys & Girls Club is a national organization, each club operates as an individual nonprofit funded through local donations, grants and community support.

Supporters can follow Antsee’s journey through his official 100 Miles for Club Kids Facebook page at facebook.com/profile. php?id=61586132438216.

“It’s a long haul to train for this kind of event so I am glad to be almost done,” said Antsee, who has been preparing for about three months.

To learn more about the Boys & Girls Club programs or to sponsor Antsee’s run, reach out at [email protected] or visit bgctx.org/ EastWillamsonCounty or bgctx.org/Georgetown.

Sponsors can also choose which club — Georgetown or Taylor — to support and do not have to pay until after the race.
