The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer teams swept Cameron Yoe on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Taylor High School. The Lady Ducks cruised to an 8-0 victory, while the boys knocked off the Yoemen, 3-1.
Girls
The Lady Ducks continued their dominant stretch, outscoring their past five opponents 28-2. Taylor built a commanding lead with five goals in the first half before adding three more after the break.
Junior Kaitlyn Crane led the way with three goals, while junior Analisa Arredondo and sophomore Peyton Wamble added two goals apiece. Freshman Catalina Valverde also found the back of the net.
Crane finished with two assists, and freshman Araceli Mena recorded one assist.
In goal, junior Nikki Rodgers has been a stone wall, allowing just two goals over the last five matches.
With the win, Taylor improved to 6-5 overall and 5-1 in district play. The Lady Ducks faced Salado on Friday and will host Manor New Tech at 7:15 p.m.
Boys
The Ducks were tested in a much tighter contest but pulled away to secure their fourth district victory of the season.
Adan Torres, Kason Page and Andres Luna each scored a goal. Torres, Jonathan Sanchez and Aaron Grimaldo all recorded one assist.
Taylor improved to 8-4-1 overall and 4-2 in district play. The Ducks took on Salado on Friday and will return to action on the road against Manor New Tech at 7:15 p.m.
