LITTLE RIVER ACADEMY — The Taylor Lady Ducks soccer team fell 6-1 to the La Vega Pirates in the bi-district round of the playoffs on Thursday, March 19, at John Glover Stadium in Academy.
Taylor closed out the season with a 14-8 overall record and a 13-3 mark in district play, finishing another strong campaign despite the early postseason exit.
The Lady Ducks struggled to contain La Vega’s high-powered offense, as Cydney Campos, Avery Linstrom and Leilana Silva led the Pirates’ attack and kept pressure on Taylor throughout the match.
Taylor had several opportunities to find the back of the net but was unable to capitalize against La Vega goalkeeper Taelor Richardson, who entered the game as the district leader in saves and continued her strong play in the postseason.
On the defensive side, goalkeeper Nikki Rodgers — who recorded nine shutouts in district play — faced a tough challenge against the Pirates’ relentless offense. The six goals allowed marked just the fifth time this season that the Lady Ducks surrendered more than two goals in a match.
Despite the loss, Taylor returns a strong core for next season, including leading scorers Sam Schroeder, Kaitlyn Crane and Analisa Arredondo, along with Rodgers in goal, giving the Lady Ducks a solid foundation moving forward.
