ROGERS – The Thrall Tigerettes varsity softball team continued its undefeated district run with a 7-1 victory over Rogers on Tuesday, March 24.

Selena Quintanilla led the way, going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

Senior pitcher Miley Pokorny earned the win, tossing a complete game while allowing one run on six hits and striking out six.

Thrall got on the board early with a run in the first inning after an RBI single from Kenzie Engelke made it 1-0. Quintanilla extended the lead in the third with an RBI triple to give the Tigerettes a 2-0 advantage.

Rogers responded in the bottom half of the inning with its only run of the game to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, Quintanilla answered in the fifth inning with a two-run home run — her fourth of the season — to push the lead to 4-1. Thrall added insurance runs in the sixth inning, scoring twice. Freshman Reese Madsen drew a basesloaded walk to bring in a run, and another run scored on a flyout to make it 6-1.

Sophomore Mireya Torres capped the scoring in the seventh with an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-1.

Thrall improved to 16-7 overall and 5-0 in district play. The Tigerettes will close the series against Rogers on Saturday at home at 11:30 a.m. and continue district action against Cameron on Tuesday, March 31, at 6 p.m. at Thrall High School.
