Taylor’s Anthony Alderete (left) and Antonio Estrada (right) each earned fifth-place finishes at the state powerlifting meet. Alderete totaled 1,460 pounds in the equipped 165-pound division, including lifts of 520 in the squat, 390 in the bench, and 545 in the deadlift. Estrada recorded an 845-pound total in the un-equipped 123-pound division with lifts of 310, 200, and 335. Both athletes set personal records in strong showings for Taylor.
