Hutto EDC submits $2.2 million offer for annex building

Hutto EDC submits $2.2 million offer for annex building

A Williamson County-owned annex building in Hutto may soon become property of the Hutto Economic Development Corp.

Hutto EDC recently submitted a $2.2 million offer to Williamson County to purchase the Hutto Annex building. The county owns the 9,000-square foot facility, located at 321 Ed Schmidt Blvd.

“The Hutto Economic Development Corporation seeks to create a community for its residents where our civic and other activities are well-accommodated and accessible,” said Caitlin Morales, Vice Chair of the Hutto EDC. “The acquisition of this type of space would provide much-needed flexibility in where and when those accommodations may be offered.  Providing space for our residents to gather and connect with each other and the city will help to ensure synergy in our future endeavors together.”

Hutto EDC is pursuing this opportunity to help meet several growing community needs. The building would provide space for public meetings and community gatherings, and support various city functions.

It would also serve as a reliable and accessible voting location for the community, which would help strengthen local election operations. In addition, the facility could support the public during emergencies by offering space for food distribution, shelter operations, or other community assistance activities.

More on this story can be seen in the April 18-19 edition of the Taylor Press.
