The American Legion Post 39 is conducting a Memorial Day Salute at 10 a.m. Monday at the Murphy Park Pavilion, 1600 Veterans Drive.
Retired U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Mark Shipman is the guest of honor. He will be introduced by U.S. Army Veteran Scott Dean, Commander of Post 39.
Dean will give the welcome, while U.S. Marine Jim Newman will offer the invocation. The Taylor Fire Department Honor Guard will post the colors followed by the National Anthem and a musical tribute to the military. Following the conclusion of Shipman’s speech, the Taylor Police Department Honor Guard will conduct the three-volley salute. The playing of “Taps” and the singing of “God Bless America” will conclude the ceremony.
