HUTTO — Hutto Hippos took down the East View Patriots 61-7 in their district opener Friday, Sept. 25.
This was the first meeting between the two since 2017, where the Hippos defeated East View 56-19.
Hutto took control of the Patriots immediately, as it took a 14-0 lead going into halftime.
The younger talent led the game, with sophomore quarterback Micah Antoun going 16 for 17 with 396 yards and 4 touchdowns. Sophomore running-back Brayden Childs picked up a season high of 14 carries, going 49 yards with one touchdown.
The Hippos would silence any East View attempt until late in the fourth quarter when Patriots senior safety Julani Culpepper picked up a 14-yard rushing touchdown, putting the East View on the board 54-7.
Hutto would find the endzone once more, solidifying their victory at 61-7.
The Hippos are 4-1 as the season hits the halfway mark, picking up 295 points with a combined 19 passing touchdowns.
Hutto will continue district play when they host Vista Ridge Rangers on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. The Rangers are 2-3, coming off a tough 51-28 loss by Rouse.
Last season, the Hippos traveled to Vista Ridge and narrowly defeated the Rangers 35-34.
