Taylor Lady Ducks snapped their threegame streak after falling to Manor New Tech on the road in straight sets Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Taylor went into the matchup looking to defend its number one rank in district and repeat last meeting’s 3-0 outcome over the Lady Titans from 2023.
New Tech wasted no time establishing themselves, taking the first set 25-20. Lady Titan senior outside hitter Yasmine Rahab picked up a season high 17 kills, five aces and six digs.
The Lady Ducks improved their defense in the second, but it was not enough to topple the Lady Titans, losing 25-21. Taylor rallied together in the final set, falling with their best score of the night at 25-22.
Despite the outcome, Taylor performed well on both sides of the court.
Junior setter Maricela Hernandez led with 19 assists and 8 digs, with junior outside hitter Kennedy Pleasants following closely behind with 17 digs and outscoring Hernandez with 9 kills.
Freshman Sophia picked up 2 kills and 5 digs, pushing her career dig count well over 100.
Taylor now holds a 9-23 overall record and sits second on the rankings.
The Lady Ducks played Travis High School on Oct. 1st before taking on Northeast Early College at home on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Taylor defeated the Lady Raiders in their previous meeting this season, blowing the hosts out 3-0.
Northeast Early College currently holds a 0-4 district record, falling to Manor New Tech in their own 3-0 blowout.
