Granger Lady Lions could not get past the Thorndale Lady Bulldogs, falling 3-0 on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
This is the first loss for Granger since a tournament meeting in August between Florence ended in a 2-1 defeat by the Buffaloes.
This is the second time a Granger win streak has been snapped by Thorndale, as the Lady Bulldogs interrupted an 11-game run halfway through last season.
Thorndale has blown out every district game so far this season, maintaining a four-game win streak and a steady 16-17 overall record.
The first set saw the Lady Bulldogs deflate several Granger attempts and take the match 25-11. The Lady Lions improved in the second and third sets, ultimately falling 25-14 and 25-19, respectively.
Senior Thorndale setter Kennedy Robinson dominated with 12 kills and 38 attacks, while senior defensive specialist Audrie Jordan record six aces and five attacks.
Granger has now completed the first round of district play, picking up nine points and allowing six. They are now 3-1 and ranked second in district behind the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Lions will look to get back on track as they travel to play Bartlett on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. Bartlett is currently 0-3, coming off a 3-0 defeat by Thorndale.
