HUTTO — The Hutto High School girls varsity soccer team got a much-needed 6A-District 12 victory Tuesday, Feb. 27 as the Lady Hippos picked up a 2-0 shutout victory at home over Harker Heights High School.
The Lady Hippos played a strong game on defense as a team behind sophomore Kalila Kent, while senior standout goalkeeper Kamila Aguilar had another clean slate in the net.
The sophomore duo for Hutto of Alicia Izquierdo and Ashley Guild each scored a goal in the win against the Lady Knights, while freshman Mia Nelson assisted on one of the goals.
Hutto (7-7-2 overall, 4-3-1 district record), under Head Coach Courtney Mallon, is currently tied with Bryan High School for the No. 3 seed in the district standings. The Lady Hippos were scheduled March 1 for a road match at Temple High School and will return home Tuesday, March 5 at 7:15 p.m. to host Copperas Cove High School.
