FRISCO — The Thrall High School girls varsity powerlifting team had four Tigerettes compete Wednesday, March 13 at the THSWPA 1A/2A State Championship held at Comerica Center. Gracie Fitzgerald, Talia Yanez, Jaycee Chandler and Avery Koonce represented Thrall in Frisco.
Fitzgerald placed sixth in the 220-pound class and lifted 865 total pounds: 390 on the squat, 165 on the bench press and 310 on the deadlift.
Yanez placed 12th in the 105-pound class and lifted 545 total pounds: 215 on the squat, 110 on the bench press and 220 on the deadlift.
Chandler placed 17th in the 114-pound class and lifted 555 total pounds: 230 on the squat, 95 on the bench press and 230 on the deadlift.
Koonce, who was the 2024 Region 2 champion in the 105-pound class with 645 total pounds lifted, did not record a score at state after she bombed out.
The Tigerettes concluded a memorable season that had them place second as a team at the regional meet hosted by Bosqueville High School.
