CAMERON — The Taylor High School boys varsity soccer team had its 2024 season come to an end Tuesday, March 26 as Los Patos were defeated 5-2 by Marlin High School in the 4A bi-district playoffs held at Cameron C. H. Yoe High School.

The Bulldogs were able to get on the board first following a penalty kick that gave them a 1-0 lead. However, Taylor battled back as Los Patos scored the equalizer on a goal by junior Vincent Aguilar and was assisted by senior Aiden Crane.

Although Taylor and Marlin were knotted at 1-1 at halftime, the Bulldogs clicked on all cylinders to begin the second half. After scoring a goal in the opening minute, Marlin saw its lead balloon to 4-1 with just under 23 minutes left in regulation.

However, Los Patos got within striking distance with a little over 18 minutes left as Aguilar scored his second goal of the evening to get to a 4-2 deficit. That was as close as Taylor got as Los Patos got a red card and had to play with 10 players for the remainder of the match.

Marlin was able to take advantage and added an insurance goal on a free kick from just outside the box, putting the match out of reach at 5-2.

Taylor (11-10 overall, 9-3 record in 4A-District 24), under Head Coach Greyson Wooten, finished the 2024 season as the No. 2 in a highly competitive district.
