Get cool with the American Legion´s help

The Graham D Luhn American Legion Post 39 has a mission to help people handle the heat this summer. The American Legion has taken over the Summer Fan Program, previously operated by the Salvation Army.

“Helping our neighbors with fans is critical because summer heat can pose dangerous health consequences for the elderly, ill or disabled,” said a press release from the American Legion.

Fans are free of charge to qualified individuals.

The application requirements are photo identification, name, age and/ or disability, home address, number in household and have you previously received fan.

Residents who are 50 years or older and those with medical disabilities are considered priority for the program.

Fans will be available from 9 a.m. to noon July 13, at the American Legion Post in Murphy Park.

For more information contact Ernest Ariola, Legion chaplain at 540-9035674.

Fan donations can be made to Moss True Value, 200 Commercial Drive in Taylor.
