The St. Mary’s Rams volleyball team closed out their season with a 5-8 overall record and a 3-5 finish in district play. Although they battled hard throughout the year, a midseason four-game losing streak proved too much to overcome.
St. Mary’s began with a 3-0 loss to Texas Wind but quickly found their footing with a win over Tribe Warriors.
After splitting their next two matches — a loss to Central Texas Christian followed by another victory against Tribe Warriors — the Rams faced a tough stretch, dropping four straight games to fall to 2-6.
The Rams bounced back with consecutive district wins against Methodist Christian Academy and Methodist Children’s Home reigniting hope. However, their momentum was halted by a loss to Grace Academy. St. Mary’s notched one more victory against Methodist Children’s Home, before closing the season with a hard-fought loss to Providence Prep.
Junior middle hitter Adrianna Flores and junior opposite hitter Sydney Zimmerhanzel were standout performers for the Rams, with junior setter Leah Altman and junior hitter Mercy Barta also making key contributions. With all top players returning next season, St. Mary’s is eager to turn this season’s lessons into a stronger campaign ahead.
