The 74th National Day of Prayer will bring together friends, neighbors and community in a spirit of harmony and unity Thursday, May 1, 7 p.m. at the Heritage Square Amphitheater. Romans 15:14 “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled” is the theme of the event.
Prayers for national and civic leaders, the country and community will be offered at the event.
Mary Flores, pastor of Oasis Church Taylor, said, “National Day of Prayer is a meaningful opportunity for communities to come together in unity, reflection, and hope. In a world where division often makes the headlines, this event offers a moment to focus on what brings us together - our shared humanity, our desire for peace and our care for one another.”
Flores said it’s important for people of different faiths and denominations to attend National Day of Prayer because when they gather side by side in mutual respect it shows that while personal beliefs may differ hope for communities and the world are deeply connected.
Those who don’t identify with a particular faith are welcome and encouraged to attend.
“This day isn’t only about religion – it’s about community. Whether through prayer, meditation or simply being present, everyone can find value in coming together with neighbors to pause, reflect and support one another,” Flores said.
