Possible runoff for Taylor District 4 council seat

There could be a runoff election for the Taylor City Council District 4 seat next month.

As of 9:55 p.m. Saturday, Heather Long had 43.43% of the vote in that race. While Long had the most votes, she did not garner the required 50% to win the election.

This means Long will likely have a runoff race against Marie Bloemer, who has 30.08% of the vote. Shannon Quicksall (26.39) and Gordon Pettey (0.38) also ran for the District 4 alderman spot.

Greg Redden will likely be the new Taylor City Council District 1 alderman. He won 79.29% of the vote compared to 20.71% for his opponent, Gail F. Samuels.

Cheryl Carter is projected to be the Place 3 Trustee for the Taylor Independent School District. She claimed 77.14% of the vote, while Janet Curtis claimed 22.86% of the vote.

A more in-depth story can be seen in the May 7 E-Edition of the Taylor Press.
