TWO CRASHES IN U.S. 79 INTERSECTION
Hutto first responders worked two crashes almost within one week at the intersection of U.S. 79 and County Road 131 near Hutto’s east city limits. The first crash was June 26, followed by the second on July 4. Hutto Police Department, Hutto Fire Department and Williamson County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scenes.

Eagle Scout to be honored for flag boxes
The Hutto City Council is set to honor local Eagle Scout candidate Elliott Koncaba during the July 7 City Council meeting for his work on an Eagle Scout Community Project. Koncaba, a member of Boy Scout Troop 350, developed, produced and delivered a series of five flag retirement boxes around town for the community to place unserviceable American flags.

Egrets spark outage
Taylor suffered a large power outage in the late hours of Independence Day. On July 4, residents in central and north Taylor were without electricity, some from shortly after sunset into the early morning hours of July 5.

Fire claims local home
A Thursday fire destroyed a home near the northern edge of Taylor. On June 30, the Taylor Fire Department and others responded to a fire at 11 a.m.

Tourney deadline extended
The ninth annual Taylor Press 3-on-3 basketball tournament is this weekend, and there’s still time to sign up. “We want as many people to sign up as we can,” said Jason Hennington, publisher and tournament director.
