Lorene Machu

Lorene was baptized on December 14, 1936, in the Granger Brethren Church by Rev. Josf Barton. When the family moved into the Taylor area, she was confirmed at the Taylor Brethren Church where she remained a lifelong member.
Lorene attended Taylor High School and during her senior year, she worked at KTAE Radio. One of her most unforgettable memories was when she and friends went to the Skyline Club in Austin where Elvis was performing and he gave her a kiss on the cheek.
Upon her graduation in 1956, she went to Nixon-Clay Business School in Austin on scholarship. Lorene then started work at Texas Automobile Insurance Plan (TAIP) in Austin where she would then retire on December 31, 1993.
She later enjoyed her gambling trips and playing the slots, but her favorite hobby was local Bingo!
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Melba Roepke and her husband Gene and Midred “Millie” O’Brien; brothers Eugene Machu and wife Effie and Johnnie Machu and wife Aileene. She is survived by her brother, Howard Machu, and wife Bonnie, and brother-in-law Lloyd O’Brien, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
