Verna Mae Weeks Grieger
Verna Mae Weeks Grieger

She spent a lot of her childhood in the Blue/Beaukiss area and attended family reunions there until recent years. Verna held various jobs in Taylor, including Usherette at the Howard Theatre and Cashier at Big Bear Grocery. She went to work for the State Highway Department in 1960 and retired in 1990 after 30 years of service and many years of commuting back and forth.
Her retirement included family, friends, traveling with PrimeTimers from First Baptist Church, and helping Adolph with cattle on the family ranch in Shiloh. She loved sports and attended many high school football games. She would watch game shows or any sport on TV and never missed an Aggie football game, attending in person until she wasn’t able and then watching it on TV. She loved getting her nails done, then stopping at the Taco Bell drive-thru for her special nachos.
She is survived by her four children and spouses. Also, her grandchildren Bobby Grieger (Katrina), Rickay Grieger, Jaime Lannen Schwertner (Cory), Seth Lannen, Lacie Grieger Dlouhy (Cody), Regan Grieger Dickerson (Cedric), Coty Brown (Lesa), April Gamez Rodriguez (Fernando). Also, she was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many nephews and nieces. She is survived by her sister Gloria Weaver and special sister Reba Widmer.
Family would like to thank SPJST Assisted Living and SPJST Rest Home for the love and Care they gave her.
