GEORGETOWN — The newly created 512th state District Court also has a new judge — Sarah Moore.

Moore, R-Liberty Hill, was appointed to the seat March 13 by Gov. Greg Abbott and sworn in March 31.

She also is the Republican candidate for the bench and will run against Leslie Booker, D-Georgetown, in the Nov. 3 general election.

Moore’s current term expires Dec. 31. The winner of the November midterm will be sworn in Jan. 1. Terms are four years.

In last month’s primary election, Moore defeated fellow Republican Ryan Bownds by more than 10,000 votes.

The 512th District was created Sept. 1.

Moore was a prosecutor with the 26th Judicial District Attorney’s Office prior to her appointment. According to her website, mooreforwilco.com, Moore has tried more than 100 felony jury cases in Texas.

Moore, a mother of four, received a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Phoenix and her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, according to an online biography.
