Totty replaces Gaddes in office

ASSESSOR- COLLECTOR

County commissioners this past week named veteran finance professional Catherine Totty as the new Williamson County tax-assessor collector after Larry Gaddes stepped down.

The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved Totty’s appointment during its July 14 meeting. Her first day on the job will be Tuesday, July 21, after she is sworn in during the commissioners’ meeting.

“I am deeply honored by the confidence the Commissioners Court has placed in me,” Totty said in a prepared release. “I look forward to serving Williamson County residents with integrity, transparency and a commitment to exceptional customer service while building on the strong foundation (Gaddes) and the outstanding team in the Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office established.”

Gaddes resigned June 12 after serving 16 years in Williamson County to accept the position of deputy executive director of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.

Meanwhile, officials said Totty brings more than 25 years of experience in banking, lending and financial services experience to her new role, including reviewing property tax assessments, tax certificates and escrow requirements.

She also serves as a continuing education instructor for Texas Realtors, teaching courses related to lending, property taxes and real estate transactions.

“Catherine Totty’s strong financial background and leadership experience make her well prepared to take on this responsibility,” said County Judge Steve Snell. “We are confident she will provide steady leadership and continue delivering dependable service to Williamson County residents.”
