TAYLOR — The Taylor Ducks varsity volleyball team opened district play with a 3-0 shutout against the Travis Early College High School Rebels Tuesday, Sept. 9th at Taylor High School.
Taylor opened the meetup with a hefty 25-9 win for the first set. Travis attempted to gain control but could not close the gap and fell 25-17 in the second set and 25-19 in the third set.
“We’re more confident in our gameplay and just being able to work well as a team,” said Taylor volleyball Head Coach Sarah Neal. “We spent a lot of time building the team up so seeing that payoff was huge.”
After a tough preseason, this victory marks the end of a seven- game lose streak for the Lady Ducks. They now are ranked number one in the district.
“We’ve really kind of hunkered down defensively, especially being able to move our feet and knowing how to read a ball,” said Coach Neal.
“I think there’s still some growth that we can make in our ability to run a fast offensive ball then being prepared to respond.”
So far in the 20262027 season, the Taylor Lady Ducks have accumulated a 5-20 overall record and 1-0 for district play. The team completed the 2025-2026 season with a 9-24 overall record, 2-10 in district.
The Lady Ducks look to build on this win against Northeast Early College High School. The Lady Raiders are entering the matchup with a 0-3 record and ranked fifth in district. The matchup will take place on Friday, Sept.
11th. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Taylor High School.
