Lady Hippos advance to the postseason

HUTTO — The Hutto High School varsity volleyball team is already locked into the upcoming 2023 postseason but played a non-district warmup game at home Tuesday night versus Round Rock Christian Academy, one of the best private school teams in the area.

In a back-and-forth match between the Lady Hippos and the Lady Crusaders, Hutto put up one heck of a fight but came up just short in a five-set thriller. Hutto fell to RRCA by scores of 25-16, 22-25, 25-22, 22-25 and were edged 13-15 in the fifth set to take the loss.

Heading into Friday night, Hutto (2119 overall, 7-5 in district) was scheduled to have a 6A-District 12 seeding match in Georgetown against Copperas Cove High School. Since both the Lady Hippos and Lady Bulldawgs finished with 7-5 marks in district play and split their two head-to-head meetings, they will play to determine who takes the No. 3 seed for the playoffs.

Be sure to check out the Taylor Press Sports page on Facebook for additional updates on the district seeding game Friday night against Copperas Cove and who Hutto will play in the bi-district round of the playoffs. If the Lady Hippos win the seeding game they will be the No. 3 seed and play Cedar Hill High School and if they lose, Hutto will be the No. 4 seed and will take on Mansfield High School at a neutral location.
