Granger packed the stands Tuesday, Feb. 6 as the Lady Lions had their final home game and came away with a clutch 45-40 victory over the Holland Lady Hornets.

Before the game versus Holland, three Lady Lions players were honored for senior night with Clarissa Miller, Destiny Cotten and Montana Moore.

The Lady Lions took a 28-19 lead into halftime and were able to keep the Lady Hornets from taking the lead down the stretch of the second half.

In addition to strong play on both ends of the court from Moore, the Lady Lions got nine points from Cotten on a trio of three-pointers made while junior Sofia Bernal had a solid game with eight points, two rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.

GRANGER LADY LIONS 51, THORNDALE LADY BULLDOGS 45

The Lady Lions needed to win and they would clinch at least the No. 4 seed for the playoffs. They did just that Feb. 8 with a hard-fought 51-45 victory over Thorndale in a district seeding game held at neutral site Taylor High School.

Granger got off to a fast start with a 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, maintained a 28-15 advantage at halftime, got out to an 18-point lead in the third quarter and held on down the stretch to clinch a playoff berth.

Moore went off for the Lady Lions as she led all scorers Thursday with a gamehigh 23 points, seven steals, four rebounds and four assists against the Lady Bulldogs.

Granger junior Marissa Hall also had a solid all-around game as she added 10 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six rebounds.

Granger (10-23 overall, 6-7 district record) under Head Coach Kendall Cotten is scheduled Feb. 9 for another seeding game versus Bartlett High School at neutral site Thrall High School that would lock in the Lady Lions as the No.

3 seed with a victory.

Depending on how that game works out, the Lady Lions would play Feb. 12 or 13 in the 2A bi-district playoffs against either Flatonia High School or Shiner High School.
